The twins are up my wife is pecking away at her computer and I am dictating the Dawn patrol into my laptop. This is as hi-tech as Hell gets around my humble abode. Yesterday I asked readers to suggest some things and of course we got quite a bit sent in e-mails to hell_direct_line@yahoo.com but only one in comments from our partner in the Digital Press Club™ DCup:


Here's what's on my mind tonight. Mind you, my mind is slowly becoming pickled by D.tini's and cigarettes, but there's still some function there.

Are we seeing a slow motion train wreck for the United States as the criminal Bush Administration is backed into a corner over a variety of scandals and mistakes? What will they do? What's coming at us that we can't anticipate fully because we don't want to believe the worst of others?

What will they do out of desperation to prove themselves right? To prove to the gullible among us that we still require their protection from "the other?"

Any crystal balls in Hell?


I have always contended that cigarettes and alcohol in moderation are good for you, but that is a wholly other topic for warmer days on Terra. As a demon journalist and a student of three hundred years of human history seen "up close and personal" I must admit that I have never seen such a governmental failure of these proportions in my lifetime. I missed those post Elizabethan days and the rise of Oliver Cromwell but in the Lord Protector I think we can see some of the parallels to George W Bush and how he and those who support him operate.









Cromwell hated royalty and the very concept of a monarch being divinely anointed. Bush feels the same way about the intelligentsia unless it serves his political purposes. Only those at the American Enterprise Institute fits the mold here. Now really, to be fair, this is more of the influence of Rove or Cheney and those like Kagan and Kristol at AEI than anything that he cooked up in his own mind. It likely began with those who backed him financially in the late 1990s explaining that if you do as we ask you will enjoy a legacy greater than your father, Reagan or even JFK.













All those living on Terra and those of us here in Hell know that things did not work out as well as the neocons had planned. The problem is that the politically religious right wing is angry. The promised draconian measures have not been taken here at home to slake their thirst for more intrusive religion in the public square, less abortion to threaten them as the numbers of white people shrink in comparison to minorities and groups like gays and lesbians make in roads toward full citizenship. Like Cromwell, Bush is a hypocrite not truly a tyrant. Had he been surrounded with compassionate people who truly owed their loyalty to the United States instead of men and women who owed their loyalty to the concepts of a brave new neocon world he might have had the legacy he wished.














More is the pity that Karen Hughes had been his ear whisperer and not Karl Rove. Ms Hughes is a powerful Bush loyalist and must be very conflicted working so close to an administration in free fall.


As to what the Bush administration will do is simple. To use a sport phrase from the United States they will try to run out the clock. Now this is one long clock to run out in political terms when three times a week a new bomb is dropped casting more light into the dark recesses of the operations of the Bush White House and those that do their bidding. One has to remember that over the last six years personal records of people who are citizens of the United States have been examined in detail. One would have to be a fool to imagine that loyalists to the Rove Cheney Bush troika in the FBI have not compiled damning data about members of the Democratically controlled Congress. If truly cornered they will secretly disclose tidbits of information to staffers in hope that they will back off. This time will come very soon after Gonzales is cast adrift. If that does not satisfy the House and Senate Judiciary Committee leaders ( my guess is that it will not ) then the threats will follow.








The general public including the MSM will not know this is taking place however because all they will see is a tsunami of information being declassified about disrupted terror plots. We have seen some of this already with Khalid Sheik Mohammed which met with mixed results. Mr & Mrs American who make 25,000 dollars a year are very afraid of terrorism because they have been convinced that somewhere in North Waziristan written in Arabic their names and the names of their towheaded children are on a list of people to suffer beheading on video when al Qaeda comes to US the day after the Democrats cut 'n run from Iraq.








This is what those who profit from fear, Halliburton, Blackwater and Parsons come to mind, depend upon and this is what their nature compels them to do. There can be no wavering now there is no other option than to destroy themselves rather than truly allow themselves to be held accountable. Our good friend the Oracle at Acheron has a few predictions that I would like to share with you. She does predict that Bush will face impeachment (62% likely) late in 2007 if there is no resolution of the US Attorney scandal and Jack Abramoff (Oracle states that Abramoff and Bush are link far closer than anyone suspects) remains alive until November 2007. There is a very high probability (79% per the Oracle) that Osama bin laden will be declared killed with no proof, i.e. his body will not be found and the Bush administration will use the howling debate about is he dead or not as cover to run out the clock.

Confidence is not very high (15%) that there will be a terror attack in the United States that kills more people than 9/11. However, there is high confidence (88%) that there will be "minor" terror attacks that kill fewer than 100 persons and that those attacks will be in response to events going on in Iraq or in Pakistan regarding Zawahiri or bin Laden being killed/captured/rumored dead by American hands. The Oracle at Acheron sees Bush taking a sword dive for Rove (71%) instead of firing him but Gonzales will go before 1 May 2007 (92%).
